CUSTOMER TERMS AND CONDITIONS
- All sums payable under the terms of this contract will be subject to VAT.
- So long as our fees are paid up to date, you but no other person can use the unit for storage of goods during the period agreed.
- You can have access to the unit (a notice of at least 24 hours to be given to arrange appointment time) for the purposes of depositing, removing, substituting or inspecting the goods. No access to the unit will be permitted for any other purposes or without prior appointment. We will advise should access arrangements change.
- D&J self storage provide padlocks and keys. Padlocks and keys should be left at the premises at all times, (padlock keys are stored in a locked cabinet for security). A relevant charge will apply for any padlocks or keys removed from the premises.
- Only you and persons authorised in writing or accompanied by you will be allowed to have access to the unit. Any such person is your agent for whose actions you are responsible and liable, to us and to others for damage caused within the storage unit. You may withdraw any authorisation at any time, but the withdrawal will not be effective until we receive it in writing. We may ask for proof of identity from you or any other person at any time and we may refuse you or your agent's access at any time if we consider in our sole discretion that the safety of any person at the store or the security of the unit and its contents will be put at risk.
- It is the responsibility of you to inform us immediately of any contact or address detail changes.
- It is not permitted to store the following items: food or perishable goods; plants, birds, fish, animals or any other creatures; combustible, flammable, explosive or oxidising materials, liquids or gases e.g. paint, petrol, oil, cleaning solvents, gas cylinders, cellulose nitrate film, fireworks; Firearms, weapons, ammunition, explosives or the components thereof; chemicals radioactive materials, biological agents; pollutants, toxic or hazardous materials or contaminated goods or other materials of a potentially dangerous nature; any item which emits any fumes, smell or odour; any illegal items or goods illegally obtained, including counterfeit goods, illicit (smuggled/counterfeit) tobacco, illicit alcohol, unlicensed medicines, unsafe goods (including toys, electrical items, cosmetics and fireworks).
- You must not do anything in the unit which will invalidate any insurance policies or those of clients using units in the vicinity.
- You must not must not attach anything externally to your unit or make any changes or alterations to the unit therein.
- You must inform us immediately of any damage or defect to the unit.
- You must not leave anything in or cause any obstruction or undue hindrance in any passageway, stairway service area or other part of the store and you must at all times exercise courtesy to others and reasonable care for your own safety and that of others in these areas.
- This contract shall not confer on you any right to exclusive possession of the unit.
- We may at any time by giving you seven days written notice, require you remove the goods from the unit to another unit specified by us, which shall not be smaller than the current unit in the unlikely event of a fire or flood or other incident or occurrence at the storage which in our opinion requires the unit or any part of the storage to be closed or sealed off.
- Should you at any time fall more than two months in arrears of payment, having not responded to reminder letters sent to you (letters will be sent giving you 30 days notice). We reserve the right to sell items of goods in your unit to the value of that what is owed to us.
- Because the nature of goods stored in the unit can vary it is entirely down to your discretion to ensure the unit is suitable of the goods you intend to store. We do not warrant or represent that any unit allocated to you is a suitable place or means of storage for particular items. You must ensure the goods going into storage are securely and properly packed and in such condition as not to cause damage or injury to the unit or to any other property whether by spreading damp, infestation, leakage or the escape of fumes or substances.
- You must complete an inventory of your goods. We do not inspect the goods when they arrive and do not keep records concerning this.
- Storage of goods in the unit is at your sole risk, and it is within our conditions your items stay insured at all times whilst they are in storage, evidence of which will need to be seen by us before signing this contact. We do not carry out any valuation of the goods and we are not responsible for ensuring that the full new replacement value as stated by you in the insurance inventory is an accurate or true valuation of the full new replacement value of the goods. You are responsible for ensuring that the value of goods insured is maintained at an adequate level throughout your storage period. We do not give any advice concerning the insurance cover provided by our insurance policy it is for you to make your own judgement whether the cover is appropriate for your needs. You must apply for insurance cover by completing a separate form.
- When removing your goods from storage you will be required to give us 14 day's notice (unless otherwise agreed). Units must be left clear and any rubbish disposed of by you, a charge will be made for the disposal of any unwanted goods left and of any rubbish.
- Terms and conditions may change however you will be informed accordingly within 7 days of any changes taking place.
